Hiring a Chief Diversity Officer

I was honored to be appointed to serve on the Search Committee for the Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) for San Jose State University. This is one of the very important hire by Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson, the new and first Latina president of San Jose State University, ranked #1 Most Transformative College in the United States by Money. I love the history of social justice and activism on this urban campus that is the first and flagship for the California State University system. It is the public university in the Silicon Vally for a diverse student enrollment of 30,000 undergraduate students, former home to Tommie Smith and John Carlos, the US Olympians who raised their gloved arms during the medal presentation at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico to protest the unjust treatments of Black people in the US. Did you know Smith and Carlos were students at SJSU at the time? I had no idea until I joined SJSU in 2019 and saw the beautiful Olympic Black Power status on campus.

If you know anyone who might be a good candidate for our CDO position at this Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI), please direct them to this webpage: https://www.wittkieffer.com/position/24648-chief-diversity-officer/.
