I’ll be sharing here the voices of a community leaders, colleagues, friends, family who know me well.
Love of the People
“Vid is the right congressional candidate for Northwest because of his love of the people, especially the children, wanting the best educational opportunities for them as much as possible. Secondly…he is a very well-educated person with integrity and a passion for his people’s well-being.”
— Stan Sablan, Community Leader
Competent Leadership
“I worked with Dr. Raatior at UH Hilo and experienced firsthand his caring, compassionate and competent leadership. Not only does he embody the wonderful Pacific Islander ways of being, but he understands how to navigate multiple worlds to move people and systems forward. He will be a dynamic advocate and thoughtful listener who is selfless in his commitment for a better community.”
–Dr. Denise L. Uehara, Institutional Researcher at Punahou School.
Sacrifice for Public Service
“Vid is the right person for the job because he understands our problems in Northwest and he is willing to sacrifice and put on hold everything, including his family, his career and his future for the future of our children in Paffeng, Namonweitte and Pattiw. Sacrificing oneself for the betterment of others is a characteristic of a dedicated public servant.”
–Damian Jones, Community Leader & Family
Educational Opportunities
“From the moment I met Vid in 2014, I have known about his deep love for his childhood home. His pride in Chuukese culture and values shines through in his research, teaching, and relationships. Vid has been a positive role model for countless Chuukese students at home, as well as in Hawaii, Guam and in other states. Vid’s #1 goal is to improve educational opportunities for children who are living in the NW islands, so they have the choice about what future they want for themselves. As education improves and these students learn more, they will be able to help their families and home communities by working in higher-paying jobs, and by making well-informed decisions for their families’ health, wellness, and happiness. Vid will use every resource available to support educational improvements in the NW islands. As a woman and an educator, I support Dr. Vidalino Raatior’s candidacy for Senator–he will set a higher standard for how Chuukese senators serve their communities. ”
–Dr. Natalie Nimmer, former Principal Majuro Cooperative High School; former Field Director, WorldTeach RMI; Educational Consultant, Pacific Relevance Consulting
Lead with Conviction
“Dr. Vid Raatior is a compassionate, courageous, creative, and caring person who leads with conviction. I am proud to call him my colleague and friend and know that he will bring the same leadership and values as an elected official of Chuuk.”
—Dr. Ed Noh, Director, Kaʻōhao School, Oahu
